It is early 2373. The Cardassian Union has relinquished its Military Rule and has a new Civilian Government. The Klingons have broken off from the Khitomer Accords and are at war with the Cardassians

Its has been almost a year since the USS Payette had been destroyed. Starfleet retrofitted the Cheyenne class USS Haida and assigned assigned it to Captain Xani and his crew out of Narandra Station in the Shackleton Expanse. Despite all the turmoil in the Alpha Quadrant, here in the Beta Quadrant the Haida is to carry out Starfleet’s primary mission: Exploration and Scientific Discovery.

First, the crew have to do a Shakedown Cruise to make sure the ship is good to go on long term missions.
